Well this is a loaded question and the answer has so many layers. To be clear both Jackie and I have trained with Bikram now many years ago. He ruled with an iron fist and tried to control and own his yoga and his studios. Although we never gave him any money to support his now crumbling empire. His international head quarters is closing in the next few weeks, he is in the midst of several sexual oriented lawsuits one of which he just lost to the tune of 7 million dollars. His training has moved to India and as of today no one has signed up. Truth be told it is more than the fact that his empire is collapsing……its because the 26×2 class is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this Ghosh lineage of yoga. In attempt to control yoga Bikram never let his studios teach more modern bio-mechanics let alone different class sequences. Although many people benefitted from his class we observed so many people ebbing and flowing with their practice and blind fully following. There is a saying doing the same thing the same way over and over expecting new results is insanity. There once was 700 plus Bikram studios worldwide and today according to his website there are only 40 or so. People have become wise to the fact that to expect to much from one sequence is unsustainable. That is why here at Mountain Yoga we offer the 5 Elemental Classes of the Mountain Yoga System with endless opportunity to grow and expand into the future.
