Catherine is the Marketing Manager at Mountain Yoga. Catherine explored yoga in high school at the local recreation center, and then again in college at the University of Utah where she began taking classes each semester. She didn’t realize it then, but yoga was becoming an integral part of her stress management and self-reflection techniques. In 2015 she realized that going only 1-2 times a week was not enough for her, so she found Mountain Yoga and became hooked to the variety of classes and the way heated yoga made her feel.
Catherine remembers that when she started going to yoga she was neither strong nor flexible. She didn’t like exercising very much back then, so she knew she needed to find something that worked for her. Group fitness classes worked well because it meant that she could get a good workout within an hour and have someone else push her to her limits. Now, she realizes that it was the community aspect of moving in a room with other people that solidified her love for yoga.
Catherine graduated from the University of Utah in 2015 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Education and Promotion. In 2017 she trained with Vimana Yoga in Basalt, Colorado to get her 200hr Yoga Teacher Training certificate. She has sat on 10-day Vipassana and 14-day Panchakarma retreats and continues to learn more about the practice of yoga and herself every day.
When not at the studio, you can find Catherine fostering her free spirit. She’s probably hiking (she’s summited over 150 mountains!), rock climbing, doing yoga outside, or in the kitchen cooking up something grain-free and tasty!
