Amazing!

The training helped me build so much confidence in myself. I really liked the way the training was broken up into blocks. It made it so I could take it one step at a time and not get overwhelmed.

Emily and Jackie gave us all the tools we needed to be able to build a well balanced class. In the training they set it up so you got to experience the way poses felt in your body, visually see it on other bodies, and listen to the way a class sounds. They had something for every learning type. They were always available for questions and support.

But, Am I Teacher Training Material?

This training is for you if…

  • You want to deepen your understanding of yoga beyond poses
  • You’re curious about teaching now or in the future
  • You value functional movement, alignment, and sustainability
  • You appreciate structure, clarity, and thoughtful instruction
  • You’re open to personal reflection, growth, and integration
  • You’re comfortable practicing in a heated environment
  • You want skills that translate to both heated and non-heated spaces

This training is designed for real people, real bodies, and real growth — not perfection or performance.

This training may not be the best fit if…

  • You’re looking for a quick or surface-level certification
  • You want a purely workout-based or performance-driven experience
  • You are unwilling to participate in teaching practice and feedback
  • You strongly dislike practicing in a heated room
  • You believe yoga must be taught in only one specific way or environment
  • You’re unable to commit to the immersion blocks and mid-week clinics

A Note on Heat

This training is rooted in a heated yoga practice, using warmth as a tool to increase awareness, mobility, and nervous system insight.

Heat is not the point, but adaptability is.

Everything you learn can be applied in non-heated, gently warmed, or heated spaces, giving you the skills to teach with intelligence and flexibility across environments.

Our Intention

Our intention is to create a supportive, grounded learning environment where students feel:

  • Confident
  • Empowered
  • Challenged in healthy ways
  • Connected to their voice and values

If you’re reading this and feeling a quiet “yes” – even mixed with nerves – that’s often a sign this training is meant for you.

Meet Your instructors

Meet the dedicated practitioners that will take you deep into the roots of yoga, from its philosophy and its mindfulness to the practice of breath and movement.

Guest instructors from Mountain Yoga and the broader Salt Lake yoga community will be assisting in some portions of the training.

Jackie Wheeler

Founder and Instructor, Mountain Yoga Sandy

Founder of Mountain Yoga Sandy since 2003, Jackie has been a dedicated yoga practitioner for over 25 years. She was originally certified by Bikram Choudhury in 2000. Jackie’s ambition to expand has led her to study with many teachers from various traditions. Her diversified background has provided the inspiration and foundation to create the 5 Elemental System that is unique to Mountain Yoga. This system enables one to utilize the various methods of yoga to build a more personalized and sustainable approach that is adapted to the needs and goals of the practitioner.

This training has given me a SOLID base, an invaluable foundational knowledge

The individual & collective wisdom and experience of the amazing teachers involved in this training just can’t be overstated.

It’s such an amazing, life-changing opportunity that the word opportunity itself feels too small.

All of which have allowed me to give myself permission to REALLY and TRULY begin to identify and step into my teacher-self with a self-confidence I’ve frankly not known before.

Frequently Asked Questions

If  your questions are not covered in our FAQ, don’t hesitate to reach out using the form below.

How is the 200-Hour Training structured?

The training is completed through two immersive blocks and one long integration weekend, with mid-week clinics in between.

The format includes:

  • Block 1: Wednesday–Sunday immersion
  • Mid-week clinics: Guide teaching practice
    Block 2: Wednesday–Sunday immersion
  • Final Long Weekend: integrating and finalizing content and graduation on Sunday

This structure offers deep immersion while allowing time to integrate and practice what you’re learning.

What does a Wednesday–Sunday block look like?

Each block runs Wednesday through Sunday, with full training days.

These immersion blocks are where we dive deeply into:

  • posture and alignment
  • anatomy and movement
  • philosophy and history
  • teaching methodology
  • sequencing and cueing
  • breathwork and meditation

Taking classes is an essential way to learn all the above. We will be practicing 2 classes per day, except Saturday and Sunday. The immersion format allows you to fully drop in, focus, and absorb the material without distractions.

What are the mid-week clinics?

Mid-week clinics are short, focused sessions held between the two immersion blocks.

These clinics are designed to:

  • support integration of the material
  • practice teaching in a low-pressure environment
  • refine cueing and sequencing
  • ask questions and receive feedback

Many students say these clinics are where confidence really starts to build.

What happens during the long integration weekend?

The long weekend brings everything together.

It includes:

  • sequencing refinement
  • philosophy and reflection
  • practice teaching
  • integration of skills from both blocks
  • graduation ceremony at the end of the weekend

This weekend marks the transition from student to teacher.

How do the hours add up to 200?

The 200 hours are completed through a combination of:

  • Contact hours (immersion blocks, clinics, long weekend)
  • Non-contact hours (reading, reflection, homework assignments required for graduation, personal practice, observation)

This structure fully meets Yoga Alliance requirements and is common in high-quality teacher trainings.

Do I need to want to teach yoga to take this training?

No. Many students join to deepen their practice, grow personally, or understand yoga more fully.

If you do want to teach, you’ll graduate well-prepared.
If you don’t, the tools you gain will still positively impact your life. You will gain clarity as well as confidence to step into new aspirations.

Do I need to be advanced or flexible?

Not at all. This training is designed for real people with real bodies. You will deepen your understanding of what yoga truly is and what it is not.

Curiosity, consistency, and openness matter far more than flexibility or experience.

Is there homework?

Yes — and it’s intentional and supportive.

Home study may include:

  • short readings
  • journaling and reflection
  • personal practice
  • class observation
  • sequencing exercises

Most students spend 2–4 hours per week outside of class.

What if I miss part of a block or weekend?

Because this is an immersive program, attendance is essential and very hard to truly make up.
However, we understand that unexpected things happen in life.

Make-up options may include:

  • additional assignments
  • private sessions (additional cost)
  • extra clinic hours

We’ll work with you whenever possible to stay aligned.

Is this training Yoga Alliance certified?

Yes. This is a Yoga Alliance–approved 200-hour teacher training, and graduates are eligible to register as RYT-200.

How big is the group?

We intentionally keep groups small (max 12) so you receive:

  • personalized mentoring
  • meaningful feedback
  • a supportive learning environment and community

Space is limited, and early application is recommended.
