My yoga journey began in 2019 when my former employer began having an instructor come in once a week. At the time, I was a very active member of my martial arts gym & didn’t feel like I had the time to further my yoga practice outside of the office. Later that same year, I sustained a nasty ankle injury and all of my activities were put on pause. It took me a long time to recover physically and even longer mentally.
In April 2022, I found myself at an all time low. I knew I needed yoga in my life again and finally I found the courage to walk through the door at Mountain Yoga Sandy. I knew in my heart almost immediately that I was in the right place and I have been a regular fixture in the studio ever since. In late December of 2022 I started working at the Front Desk and had it on my heart to attend Yoga Teacher Training. I completed my first 200 hr. Teacher Training at Mountain Yoga Sandy around the same time the following year in 2023.
Mountain Yoga Sandy has given me so much it’s hard to put into words without writing a novel. Peace and joy have returned to my soul. I have found a sanctuary to just be present; to find true acceptance and love for my body and my mind at once and as they are in that moment, in a way that feels sustainable long-term. In teaching yoga I have found the work I was meant to be doing in this world. To be able to give the gift – the medicine of yoga as it was given to me is beyond a privilege.
I will remain forever grateful for the community I have found for myself here. I will be honest, community was the LAST thing on my mind when I first came in that front door. Now I can see that was only because I had not been able to recognize just how much I needed that sense of belonging! I am so proud to be a part of this community and so honored to serve it in every way that I can.
Originally from the Springfield area of Missouri, I moved to Utah in 2015 with my husband of 10+ years now and am proud to call Utah home. Outside of the studio, you can find me exploring these majestic mountains, relaxing at home with my husband and our doggo, or in the kitchen cooking/ baking something delicious.
I look forward to seeing you all on the Mat!
